In 2018, I tried to help a relative overseas who had no access to tampons or pads. In searching for healthier, longer-lasting options I could send her, I discovered the concept of leakproof underwear. It sounded revolutionary.
But when I tried everything on the market, I was stunned… for all the wrong reasons. Every pair I ordered claimed to be “absorbent” and “comfortable,” but what I got were bulky, soggy, diaper-like products made from questionable materials (many even tested positive for PFAS "forever chemicals").
They weren’t breathable.
They weren’t truly leakproof.
And none were made by companies I trusted.
AND, no one seemed to care.
The industry had accepted “just okay” as good enough for women’s health.
