Introducing Saalt Teen Period Underwear
Brought to you by Cherie and her 5 daughters
The sweater around your waist in math class. The emergency tampon up the sleeve. Needing a hall pass to call your mom for something you “forgot” at home.
We all have our embarrassing stories.
But it’s 2024.
We have cars that go from 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds and computers we carry in our pockets. Why have we not yet solved what I call FOLO—the fear of leaking out?
As a mother of 5 daughters, I want to create a world where young girls never have to feel embarrassed or fall behind in their academic, athletic, or economic pursuits by something as simple as a period.
Consider this.
As soon as girls hit puberty, discharge increases, sweat glands produce more, and periods start. As her body matures into young adulthood, she may also experience light bladder leaks, and increased discharge during ovulation and physical activity. So why isn’t there more leak absorbency available in all girls’ underwear?
I wanted to help change that.
That’s why we created our new Saalt Wear Teen line—designed with our patent-pending technology that absorbs up to 4 pads of all leaks while feeling as thin and comfortable as regular underwear.
I wanted my daughters and young girls everywhere to have period underwear they could count on to catch all leaks without feeling bulky or hot, but feel cool and lightweight enough to wear every day.
My daughters call it period panties that don't feel like period panties.
From all of our female product designers at Saalt, and our smart and savvy teen focus groups who helped every step of the way, we hope you love it as much as we do.

If you’ve read this far, let’s dive more into the details:
Teens Deserve Dignity during Period Week
Our new Saalt Wear Teen Line that Saalt’s product development team created is more than just a product; it’s a commitment to ensuring that my daughters—and girls everywhere—experience menstruation with dignity and ease. Traditional menstrual products, while functional, often fall short in addressing the unique needs of teens. Our leakproof underwear combines high-quality, absorbent materials with a comfortable design, ensuring that young girls feel secure and at ease throughout their cycle. I wanted my daughters to have a product that didn’t just get the job done but also helped them feel confident and comfortable.
What about the teen fabric?
Girl’s underwear is often designed with body fabric and gusset lining made from standard cotton due to long-held beliefs that cotton is always best to avoid UTIs and yeast infections. But did you know that natural fibers, like cotton, can take longer to dry than synthetic fibers, causing an environment for bacterial growth that can increase the risk of these infections? As quoted by Dr. Jennifer Gunter in this article, "Cotton underwear will feel wetter after a workout, so if you are the type of person who sweats a lot, you may be more comfortable in the synthetics made to wick the moisture away." That’s why we developed our patent-pending gusset technology with recycled polyester fibers that are moisture-wicking and hydrophobic to help keep vaginal skin dry and fresh. Our teen body fabric is also made with soft-stretch Nylon and 12% Spandex that retains its shape and stays cool, so it’s perfect for active teens.
Promoting Understanding and Empowerment
Beyond the physical benefits, I wanted to integrate educational resources into our brand. The transition into menstruation is often accompanied by a lack of information and understanding. By providing educational content along with our period underwear, we aim to equip young girls with the knowledge they need to manage their menstrual health confidently. For my daughters, this means having a reliable source of information and support that fosters a positive attitude towards menstruation.
Fostering Environmental Responsibility
Another crucial aspect of our Saalt’s leakproof panties is its environmental impact. As a parent, I am deeply concerned about the future of our planet. Our moisture-wicking underwear are designed to be reusable, reducing the environmental footprint associated with disposable products. This choice not only benefits the environment but also offers a valuable lesson in sustainability to my daughters, helping them understand the importance of making environmentally conscious decisions from a young age.
Creating a Supportive Community
Young girls thrive in communities where they feel supported and understood. Our platform is designed to be a safe space where they can share experiences, seek advice, and connect with others who are going through similar challenges. For my daughters, and for many other young girls, having a supportive community can make a significant difference in how they experience and manage their periods.

Teens are Central in Saalt’s Long-Term Vision
The decision to invent the best period underwear for teens and young girls was deeply personal and driven by my desire to make a positive impact on the lives of my daughters and countless others both near and far. I believe that by addressing the practical and emotional aspects of menstruation with thoughtful, innovative solutions, we can help young girls navigate this important stage of their lives with greater confidence and comfort. Everyone should have the right to a safe and dignified period. We empower individuals with the knowledge and long-term solutions to improve their menstrual health, which increases gender equality and opens conversations that bring awareness and break down social stigmas.
As we continue to develop and expand our efforts, my hope is that our period underwear will not only provide practical support but also contribute to a broader conversation about menstrual health and empowerment. By ensuring that every young girl has access to the resources and products she needs, including menstrual cups and reusable menstrual discs, we can work towards a future where menstruation is met with understanding and confidence, not embarrassment, shame, or discomfort.
