I Fell in Love with Saalt Soft and You Will Too

Written by: Sarah Caprye—a Saalt Cup user since 2017 and a passionate cup advocate since making the switch.

I fell in love with my Saalt Cup by the end of my first period with the cup, and I swore I'd never wear another tampon again. How could any other product surpass the blissful period freedom that I discovered since switching to Saalt? I was forever converted to the cup. The one thing I couldn't do while wearing my Saalt Cup was to use the bathroom without experiencing some movement of the cup or discomfort. No biggie, I would just remove my cup and then reinsert, or leave it in and reposition after. The health benefits, cost savings and environmental advantages of switching away from disposable products far outweighed the occasional inconvenience of adjusting my cup for bathroom time. I thought I couldn't be happier. Then, I tried Saalt's new cup—the Saalt Soft— and I was blown away.

The Saalt Soft retains all the features that make the Saalt Cup amazing, but it's made with a softer silicone that's perfect for people who need or prefer a softer cup. I already loved my Saalt Cup, and now the Saalt Soft has taken that comfort to a whole new level! I never have to remove my cup to use the bathroom anymore. Once sealed, it never slips out of place. Even when I use the bathroom, it's leak-free, reliable, and comfortable. It's the perfect cup for me, and if you've ever had any sensitivity or discomfort with firmer cups it's probably perfect for you, too!

A natural progression

Saalt's original menstrual cup was designed to be the easiest to use and most comfortable cup on the market. The medical-grade silicone has a velvety soft finish and is on the slightly firm side of average and is engineered with a bulb shape that retains its form very well. This makes it an excellent cup for first-time cup users because the slightly firmer structure allows it to pop open very easily when inserted and creates a really good seal, so it's leak free and sits comfortably in place. It is so comfortable that new customers regularly say that they can't even feel it once they have it in and even forget they are on their period!

The Saalt Soft is a natural progression for Saalt's menstrual cup line. It has the same bulb shape and soft rounded transitions, but is made from a slightly softer medical-grade silicone that is designed especially for those with a history of bladder sensitivity, cramping or discomfort with firmer cups. Because the silicone is softer, it can take a little more effort to get opened, but once it's sealed, many find it to be the perfect fit for comfort. It's the ideal period cup for the experienced cup user who prefers a softer cup, or any cup user who has experienced cramping, discomfort, or sensitivity with firmer cups.

It's no secret, menstrual cups and peeing go side by side, literally, because your urethra runs right alongside your vagina. For some cup users especially with bladder sensitivities, a menstrual cup puts just enough pressure on the urethra to make it trickier to pee. The Saalt Soft is made with an ultra-soft silicone formula designed to be both gentle and super comfortable for those with bladder sensitivity. It works just like the Saalt Cup—it stays in place by creating a seal between the cup and your vaginal wall. Once your cup is filled, you simply empty, rinse, and reinsert the cup for another 12 hours of protection.

A match made in heaven

The Saalt Soft was designed in collaboration with the cup experts at Put A Cup In It, who have helped over a million menstruators find their perfect menstrual cup.

"Our goal was to create, with Saalt, a cup that would combine their just right" shape with a new, softer firmness that is ideal for those with sensitivities. Saalt, who is wonderfully receptive to customer feedback, immediately loved the idea, and we couldn't be more excited to bring this collaboration to life. We love our Saalt Soft and think you will, too." - Kim Rosas & Amanda Hearn, Put A Cup In It

Reviews from Early Testers

Here's what some of the other Saalt Soft prototype testers had to say:

The Saalt Soft was much more comfortable during my first couple days when I have intense cramps. I can see myself using both cups throughout my cycle depending on how crampy I am feeling. I feel like I trust the Saalt Cup more for active movements but the Saalt Soft for comfort on the first day or so but that could just be because I need to get better at placing the Saalt Soft! Overall, I like them both!
Saalt Soft did NOT interfere with elimination for me as the Saalt Cup did. (I have a rectocele and weakened vaginal wall). I LOVE the shape of both the Saalt Soft and Saalt Cup, but the Soft was more comfortable. I plan to use the Saalt Soft from now on.
I hadn't used my Saalt Cup for a few cycles because I opted for a cup that stayed put even though it leaked a little. The new Saalt Soft was the only cup I used during my last cycle, even during a workout! I had trouble sometimes getting it to pop open but nothing that would deter me from using it moving forward. Overall, I'm much happier with the Saalt Soft and glad to be using Saalt again!
They are VERY similar, but the slight difference of the Saalt Soft has solved all of my issues!
