Care Instructions

Sanitize your disc before first use and before or after each period. You can do this by boiling your disc, wiping with 70% isopropyl alcohol, or using the Saalt Steamer or Saalt Compact Sanitizer.

During your period, you will want to clean your disc at least once every 12 hours. You can do so by rinsing the disc with cold water (to prevent staining) and then washing the disc with hot water and Saalt Wash or another wash that is mild, pH-balanced, fragrance-free, oil-free, and rinses clean with no residue.

If you have not used a cup or a disc for period care, you are missing out on so much freedom! No more stockpiles of supplies in your bathroom, purse, car. Insert and go! Done and done.

  • Wow, I love this disc as much as my cup! I tried other discs that were too soft to get in or put pressure on my cervix. I can barely feel this one and have had zero leaks. And love that you have two sizes so I can use the small for my light days. Amazing!

  • Alexa P.

The disc is definitely one of my new favorite period care items! So comfortable, so easy, and it's so cute too. Helps make that "time of the month" seem like any other day!

Customer Reviews

Overall rating: 4.2 / 5 from 359 reviews.

This was the first time I’ve ever tried a menstrual disc, and I can confidently say I’m never going back to pads/tampons! I found the Saalt menstrual discs to be very comfortable to use and had a leak-free experience throughout my entire cycle (even on my heavy days and while sleeping)!!

Easy to use. No mess.

Super comfortable, life changing!

I’ve tried other brands of period discs before and it was not my favorite. But then a friend told me about Saalt discs and I thought I’d give them a try. After using them, I would never use anything else!! These work so well, easy to put in and take out, and are so much more comfortable than anything else I’ve tried! I love Saalt discs and they make periods so much easier!

These are the first discs that I have tried, and I love them! I was able to insert them correctly on my first period using them, but it did take me a couple of days first to get it right. They are very comfortable and stayed in place when I went for a run. The larger capacity of the regular disc in addition to auto dumping has definitely been a game changer for me as I have a very heavy period!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful product! 💕 Everyone at Tulip Midwifery truly enjoyed it and appreciated the care and quality that went into it. We’re grateful for the opportunity to experience your products and look forward to sharing our appreciation with others! With gratitude, Tulip Midwifery Team🌷

Love the disks, so much easier to use than the cups

Love it!!

Love using the saalt disc. I wish I had tried it earlier. Much better than tampons!

Love it! actually revolutionary!

The saalt disc has allowed me to finally experience a leak free heavy period. Both disc sizes work well for different parts of the period and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results I have gotten!!

There is definitely a learning curve when first using the disc, but once you get the hang of it, you really do question why you've never tried using one before. I decided to buy some lubricant to help make the disc insertion easier and it certainly did. I'm guessing most women would not consider using one of these products as their first option, and if I'm being honest-that was me for a long time, but after some research and learning that the pros definitely outweigh the cons, I figured I would give it a shot. I'm so glad I did. I have two teenage daughters, and I'm already saving money by not having to buy that third box of pads/tampons. I hope they will be open minded and try these discs in the future. You can't beat saving money and helping our planet!

Game changer for your period. I have endometriosis and have spent years with heavy periods. I’m able to wear this for 12 hours without leaking. Little learning curve the first few times using it, but now I’ve had it for 3 months and haven’t used a tampon since. So worth the purchase!

I’m really happy with my discs! Prior to having kids, I used menstrual cups, but now cups slide down very easily (due to me now having a bladder prolapse). My pelvic floor physiotherapist suggested I try menstrual discs instead, because they don’t require suction (and therefore are more gentle on the pelvic floor). They are great! My only complaint is that removing the disc makes a huge mess, so definitely only remove it when on the toilet, lol. Otherwise, my experience has been great! Definitely recommend!

As a healthcare worker that is often too busy to find time for a bathroom break let alone enough time to change a tampon this is a lifesaver. I liked the idea of the cups and really tried to use them about two years ago (different brand) but they were just too uncomfortable and I found myself back in the tampon aisle. Fast forward to this summer when another nurse recommended I look into the disc and after many many many hours of research and back and forth I finally pulled the trigger and purchased the two pack of the saalt discs and I honestly wish I would have done it sooner.

Love my saalt products! Definitely will be buying more!

<3 it

I love my disc, I’ve always had issues with trying different types of cups. I’ve had no issues with leaking or discomfort. I’ve also noticed my periods are lighter and less painful. Never going back to tampons, HIGHLY recommend!

The disc was easy to use and so effective. I started with the smaller one and found it difficult to remove and it was messy. After a day I tried the larger one and it was much easier to use. It took a few times to figure out getting it out without making a mess, but once I did, god send. I used to hate periods, tampons were so uncomfortable and leaked all the time. After using the disc I wish I had this when I was a teenager, it's life changing.

I had another brand of period disc that was always leaking and uncomfortable to wear because it was too big and didn't fit. Saalt sizing is just right. No more leaks, no more discomfort and also less pain for some reason. I can barely remember I have my period even on heavier days.

So I previously had a bad experience with the cup — shout out to saalt customer service for troubleshooting and giving me a GC — it was an anatomy issue on my part and just didn’t work for my body. I decided to try the disc and my life is truly changed — it does fit my body (tilted cervix/uterus), slides into place right away and is so comfortable all day with no leaks! The only downside is removal can be messy but I learned to lean back when removing and that helps. Anyway I’m so glad I decided to give the disc a try!

This works great. Put a cup in it helped me understand why a different brand didn't work for me and recommended this one. Easy to use and no leaks!

This was my first time using a product that wasnt pads or tampons, & i really love it!! i was hesitant bc of how many women said they had a hard time using it & was messy. I did wait about 3 1/2 weeks for my package but i became impatient so i emailed them and asked to cancel the order. however, customer service informed me they are a small business & had an increase in volume (women owned & led) which is why my order took a little longer, so they threw in a free period underwear as compensation, are you kidding!? i wasnt aware of this information, & gladly kept my order. I even ordered my sister a kit. i love women & being one

I was super nervous about trying these discs at first, but my life is absolutely changed!! They are beyond comfortable, you don't really even feel them when they're inserted correctly, and they make your period a breeze!!

WOW! I love the Saalt Disc! I was a cup user for several years, but after having a baby the cup no longer worked perfectly. I tried the disc for the first time and I can absolutely say for certain I'm sticking with it! I also appreciate the finger indent for a smooth removal.

This is first time using a disc. Ive tried like more than 10 times in a day, take out and reinsert, this process is so uncomfortable. . . but its still leaking? it got out of place again every time i pee/poo. Its a whole mess, i hope i really don't give up.

Great for heavy cycles! you make your money back basically after one cycle! And there is so much less guilt about all the waste you produced during your period. Great for people who have never used a disc before! Very easy, such a relief not having to carry around products all the time!

I've always used tampons/pads for periods but decided recently to try making a switch. Did a lot of research and so thankful to have found Saalt. I cannot believe how simple and easy everything is thanks to these discs. Were it not for bloating and period cramps, I would have forgotten I was on my period! A little bit of a learning curve, but no leaks and super comfortable. So glad to have made the switch!

I got my discs just over a year ago and they are all I reach for now. I got the bundle with the small and regular and I use both! If I have a light or even normal period I use the small, but if I'm having a heavy one or just didn't want to empty it that often I'll use the regular/ larger size. I am seriously obsessed with these. They take so much stress off of me by making it possible to go longer without having to change a tampon all the time. It does look big and intimidating but it's so easy to feel when it's in right and once it is you don't feel it at ALL. I used to get bad cramps with tampons and was assuming these might do the same but no!! I have no cramps while wearing the discs. I can attest that you can have mess free intimacy while the disc is in. My partner can feel it but he said it doesn't bother him. Unless you're disc is FULL FULL it won't leak while doing intimate things. I will say that it can be a BLOOD BATH while emptying your disc. In my bathroom I can reach the bathtub from the toilet so I pull out my disc and rinse it and reinsert it. When I'm away from my home I'll just go to the bathroom and when you pee you'll feel it release some (you have to pee HARD for it to release, think more bearing down to poop kind of feeling) and flow out the blood so I just reinsert it until I'm home and can rinse it and dump it completely again. To clean it I take a bowl and fill it with water and let it boil in the microwave for 3 minutes cause holding it in boiling water is stressful trying not to let it hit the pot to melt it anything. I find the bowl method works great. I wish I could give every woman this disc so everyone could feel as free as I do on my period because of these discs. I could not recommend them more!

This was my first time using a product like this. I've been wearing tampons for 20+ years. The Saalt Disc's are a game changer for me since I'm someone who clots regularly, which the tampons just can't absorb. This is the first period I've ever been excited about, thanks to the Saalt Disc's.

I had tried the cup previously and struggled to get the right fit. I decided to try the discs and am so glad I did. I am able to keep them in for hours without worry. I recently had my cycle come back after over a year of not having one, and these have made a huge difference in my daily life. The two sizes are so convenient for different flow days/nights.

Love it! Can't feel it and way more comfortable than tampons

Very happy with my purchase after only one cycle. Discs are both easy to insert and fit well. Large disc is sufficient for heavy flow days and does "self empty" easily which is startling the first few times. Discs seemed to turn slightly with wear but were still easy to readjust or remove without too much mess. Seems to be a great investment to replace tampons and alleviate need to change frequently on heavier days. Purchased with the sterilizer which makes the whole system very easy to use and maintain. If wearing 24hs a day may considering purchasing two sets for convenience. Getting to sink to wash is the most cumbersome part of the process.

I have used other brands of discs, as well as multiple menstrual cups and other reusable and disposable menstrual products. This was by far the cleanest period I have ever dealt with. Somehow, the Saalt disc in both sizes kept all the blood inside even during the removal process, so I wasn't getting blood all over myself, my hands, the toilet, etc. Truly my favorite period hygiene product I've ever used.

Amazing. Wish I got this sooner. Way better than the cup

As a first time disc user, I highly recommend this product. It definitely helps you get in tune and personal with your body lol. Sure comfortable and easy to use. I experienced less discomfort using this disc than I have in years with tampons. It's easy to clean, easy to store, and it's almost forgettable with how natural it feels once you transition. This product with definitely designed with the comfort of women in mind.

I had been using Saalt cups but with various sizes was still having leaks. I had tried a disc from the drugstore and it was totally unusable for me so I had given up on discs. Finally I decided to give the Saalt disc a try and it's the best - I'll never go back! No leaks, no worries, total comfort.

I have not gotten it to work but I will give it a few more cycles to try. I think my cervix is low (I still don't know) so I tried the small first. I had a lot of difficulty and some discomfort putting it in. Then it got extremely stuck when it was time to get it out. I could reach the handle but it would not budge and I could not pull it out. I don't think it was stuck from making a seal, because it was still stuck even when I reached in to push in the edges. What worked after many hours later was sanitizing a metal chopstick, laying down, and pushing it in to act as a guide to get it down from my pubic bone. Right now I'm trying the regular size but I feel discomfort and pressure with it in. Wish me luck trying to get it out later. Also there's a lot of deceptively casual talk about reaching in, and inserting like its easy but for me (adult, never pregnant), its very difficult, uncomfortable, and time consuming, and you really have to dig in yourself to reach it. For me, its more difficult than using a tampon. It may be better to try a cheaper one with a handle or string first until you're more familiar with how your body handles it. I didn't because I thought I had a low cervix and was worried it would be irritating like a tampon string but its worth playing it safe and getting something else first if you are unsure like I was.

I have never used reusable period products before but i really love the disc. I was nervous about the comfort, the fit, leaking, the mess, really everything, but it has been way easier, more comfortable and user friendly than i expected! I love that there's no additional trash created and the steamer makes it super easy to sterilize. I don't think I'll ever be going back to paper products!
